Do you need a license to rent a UTV?
Yes. A valid driver’s license is required to rent and drive a UTV from Glamis Dunes Rentals. You also need a physical credit card in your name that matches your ID.
You do not need an off-road endorsement, a motorcycle license, or any special certification. A standard driver’s license issued by any US state is accepted. International customers can use an international driving permit (IDP) and will need to present a passport as well.
Passengers do not need a license. Only the driver needs to present one at pickup.
The waiver - what you are signing and why
Every rider in the machine signs a waiver before heading out. The waiver acknowledges that off-road riding carries inherent risk and that you understand how to operate the machine safely. It is not a document designed to catch you out. It is standard for every rental operation of this kind.
The waiver is completed on arrival and takes about five minutes. We go through it with you so nothing is a surprise. If you have questions about any part of it, ask before you sign. For riders under 18, a parent or guardian must sign on their behalf.
Deposit - how it works and when it is returned
A deposit is held on your credit card at pickup. The amount depends on the machine you are renting. Higher-performance machines carry a higher deposit because repair costs are higher: $2,500 per Commander or X3 DS, and $3,500 per X3 RS, X3 XRS or Maverick R. Cash and debit cards are not accepted for the hold.
The deposit is a hold, not a charge. It does not leave your account unless there is damage to the machine. We inspect the machine with you at pickup and note any existing wear or marks before you leave. That way the return inspection is clean and there are no disputes about pre-existing damage.
Deposit is released when
- Machine returned on time
- No damage beyond normal wear
- Fuel policy has been followed
- All included gear returned in good condition
Deposit may be charged if
- Body or mechanical damage from misuse
- Machine returned late without prior notice
- Missing or damaged included gear
- Fuel not topped up if required by policy
